Module 301: Vocational Rehabilitation Interviewing

This module provides foundational knowledge of the role and skills required of the VR professional, the foundational theories of career development, and suggested techniques and skills needed to carry out an effective vocational rehabilitation interview.

After successful completion of this session, students will be able to:

• Understand the roles, function, skills and knowledge of a vocational rehabilitation professional as well as the unique differences between vocational guidance and vocational counselling
• Describe relevant theories pertaining to career development and work Adjustment
• Understand the process and skills required in effective interviewing including; the importance of active listening, behavioral responses, asking questions, and building a relationship of trust with the person.
