In recent years, one of the questions that has been often asked is: “What is the difference between the Vocational Rehabilitation Association of Canada (VRA Canada) and the College of Vocational Rehabilitation Professionals (CVRP)?” Or put another way: “Why do we need two organizations for Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) professionals – wouldn’t just one be enough?”

The purpose of this module is to try to answer these questions. However, the short answer is:

The Association acts in the interest of the profession and educates the public about the services that are provided by its members.

The College acts in the interest of the public and sets the professional standards for those working in our industry.

The implications of these two statements are not always obvious and can be a little confusing; particularly in those areas where there may appear be on overlap between the role of the Association and the role of the College. The primary objective of this module is to provide additional information and clarity about the collaborative role of both organizations in the vocational rehabilitation profession.
