Module 501: Diversity and the Vocational Rehabilitation Professional

One of the major distinctions within all professions over the past number of years is the understanding of the diversity of our clients.  This domain examines the various diverse groups (e.g. gender, cultural, racial, sexual orientation, etc.) and the implications for the vocational rehabilitation process.

Upon successful completion of this module, you will be able to:

• Recognize opportunities to increase skills in working with a diverse population
• Identify concrete strategies to practice in ways that support diversity
• Define some key diversity terms
• Detect where diversity factors may be at play in professional situations
• Adapt professional practice to account for diversity
• Vary approaches to suit the needs of diverse individuals and circumstances
• Recommit to diversity as part of ethical professional practice
